Regional Operations Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Regional Operations Manager to lead field engineering activities across the North Region, covering Birmingham and surrounding areas. The role focuses on delivering high-quality service for communal and district heating systems while driving performance and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop a dispersed team of field engineers.
• Oversee maintenance of communal heating assets, including heat interface units (HIUs), metering, AMR technologies and pre‑payment infrastructure.
• Plan resources, organise training and manage equipment to ensure team readiness.
• Provide technical guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Conduct quality audits, monitor KPIs and report performance trends.
• Implement process improvements and ensure compliance with contracts, health & safety and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with regional teams, contractors and schedulers to guarantee seamless service delivery.
• Support commercial growth, manage budgets and control stock.

Required profile

• Proven leadership of remote or field‑based engineering teams.
• Strong technical knowledge of communal heating systems.
• Familiarity with AMR technologies (M‑Bus, Radio, DLC) and pre‑payment systems.
• Analytical mindset with problem‑solving ability.
• IOSH Health & Safety qualification or willingness to obtain one.
• Comfortable working across multi‑site, multi‑client environments.

What we offer

• Salary up to £50,000 per annum
• Vehicle allowance of £7,200 per annum
