Registered Manager – Children's Residential Home

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Registered Manager to launch a brand‑new two‑bed children’s residential home in Walsall. The role focuses on establishing a high‑quality, trauma‑informed service for young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and guiding the home through Ofsted registration and its first inspection.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the home through Ofsted registration and the initial inspection.
• Ensure compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
• Recruit, develop and manage a high‑performing residential care team.
• Promote a child‑centred, trauma‑informed culture that delivers positive outcomes.
• Oversee safeguarding, care planning, risk management and behaviour support.
• Monitor quality assurance systems, including Regulation 44 and 45 processes.
• Manage budgets, staffing rotas and occupancy in line with organisational objectives.
• Build strong relationships with local authorities, Ofsted, families and external professionals.
• Drive continuous improvement to achieve and maintain a Good or Outstanding Ofsted rating.

Required profile

• Current Ofsted Registered Manager or experienced Deputy Manager ready to register.
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards).
• Experience supporting children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties.
• Strong knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, safeguarding and safer recruitment.
• Proven leadership, organisational and communication abilities.
• Enhanced DBS check.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to commute to Walsall.
