Registered Manager for New Children's Residential Home

About the role

Derbyshire County Council is looking for an inspirational Registered Manager to lead Gatekeepers Lodge, a brand‑new one‑bed specialist children’s residential home in central Derbyshire. This senior role will shape the culture, build the team and ensure a therapeutic environment for the child in care.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and daily operation of Gatekeepers Lodge from day one.
• Create a safe, nurturing and therapeutic setting where the child feels valued.
• Recruit, train and develop a skilled, child‑centred team.
• Work closely with senior leadership to align the home with Derbyshire’s residential strategy.
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies, Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards and Ofsted expectations.
• Promote continuous improvement and reflective practice across the service.

Required profile

• Passionate about improving the lives of children and young people.
• Proven experience leading and developing residential childcare services.
• Strong belief in the importance of relationships, nurture and therapeutic care.
• Resilient, reflective and committed to continuous improvement.
• Ability to inspire confidence and build high‑performing teams.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
• Understanding of Children’s Homes Regulations.
• Familiarity with Quality Standards for children’s homes.
• Experience meeting Ofsted expectations.
