Registered Nurse - Medical Assessment Unit

About the role

The Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) at Royal Alexandra Hospital provides rapid assessment and immediate care for patients referred from primary care with acute medical needs. We are looking for a motivated Registered Nurse to join this fast‑paced team, delivering high‑quality nursing care and supporting first‑line assessments.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patient needs, plan, implement and evaluate evidence‑based care programmes.
• Take blood samples and perform ECGs as part of initial patient assessment.
• Maintain accurate patient records in line with NMC guidelines.
• Provide clinical leadership and expert advice to junior nursing staff and the multidisciplinary team.
• Work within NHS, HSE legislation, policies and ethical frameworks.
• Empower patients to take responsibility for their health and wellbeing.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Highly motivated and passionate about delivering high‑quality care.
• Committed to professional development and teamwork.
