Regulatory and Litigation Counsel, AI Safety

About the role

Google is seeking a seasoned attorney to lead regulatory and litigation efforts related to AI safety across its EMEA operations. The role involves shaping defense strategies, conducting investigations, and representing the company before governments and regulators.

Key responsibilities

• Lead responses to regulatory inquiries, investigations, litigation, and enforcement actions.
• Define and execute defense strategies for AI‑related legal matters.
• Collect, review, and analyze information for internal and external investigations.
• Engage with regulators such as State AGs, FTC, DOJ, and global data‑protection authorities.
• Collaborate with product, policy, and engineering teams to ensure compliance with evolving AI regulations.

Required profile

• J.D., LL.B., or equivalent degree with admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
• At least 10 years of experience handling legal, regulatory, and litigation matters.
• Proven track record engaging with regulators and managing complex investigations.
• Experience developing compliance programs for technology products.
• Strong written and verbal communication, investigative, and problem‑solving skills.
