Regulatory and Litigation Counsel – Competition

About the role

As a Regulatory and Litigation Counsel focusing on competition, you will join Google’s EMEA legal team to shape defence strategies against government and regulator actions. You will work closely with business units and external experts to protect the company’s interests in complex competition matters.

Key responsibilities

• Lead in‑house and external counsel/economists in responding to regulatory inquiries, investigations, litigation and enforcement actions related to competition law.
• Oversee the collection, production and review of accurate information for external submissions and disclosures.
• Partner with business teams to define strategy and manage regulatory risk.
• Represent Google in meetings with regulators, competition authorities and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• JD, LL.B. or equivalent degree, or comparable practical experience.
• Admission to the bar in the UK or an EU member state and in good standing.
• Minimum 7 years of attorney‑level experience in government, in‑house or law‑firm settings.
• Demonstrated experience litigating competition issues before civil courts and engaging with regulators such as the European Commission.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of EU competition law and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience managing cross‑functional projects and coordinating with external experts.
