Remote Full‑Time Bookkeeper (UK, Contractor)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced UK Bookkeeper to join a fast‑growing AI‑driven business on a full‑time remote contractor basis. You will become a key part of the operational backbone, ensuring financial records are accurate, organised and compliant while supporting a dynamic, high‑growth environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate bookkeeping records across multiple accounts and entities.
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly reconciliations.
• Manage accounts payable and expense processing.
• Support accounts receivable activities and payment tracking.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Ensure compliance with HMRC requirements and UK accounting standards.
• Support Making Tax Digital (MTD) compliance.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies and financial queries.
• Maintain audit‑ready financial records and documentation.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Liaise with external accountants and finance stakeholders as required.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years bookkeeping experience supporting UK‑based businesses.
• Strong working knowledge of UK accounting and bookkeeping principles.
• Proactive, hands‑on approach with full‑time availability.
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment.
• Detail‑focused, able to manage a busy workload without close supervision.
