About the role
London Building Control, in partnership with Bureau Veritas, is looking for an experienced Registered Building Inspector (RBI) to join our growing Building Control team as a Remote Plan Checker. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong RBI who enjoys the analytical side of building control and wants to focus on plan assessment work within a flexible role.
Key responsibilities
- Assess building regulation applications, plans, and technical submissions for compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation.
- Review architectural, structural, fire safety, accessibility, and energy‑related information.
- Identify compliance issues and provide clear, practical, and proportionate technical advice.
- Manage statutory consultations with Fire and Rescue Authorities where required.
- Review amended submissions and support applicants through the approval process.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure assessments are completed within statutory timescales.
- Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues across the wider building control team.
- Support knowledge‑sharing, technical training, and mentoring activities where appropriate.
Required profile
- Current Class 2A‑D Building Inspector (RBI) registration with the Building Safety Regulator (BSR).
- Strong experience within Building Control and plan assessment in England.
- Thorough knowledge of Building Regulations, Approved Documents, and associated legislation.
- Experience assessing technical drawings and building regulation applications.
- Understanding of fire safety requirements and statutory consultation processes.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical requirements clearly.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing a varied caseload.
