Repair & Maintenance Technician – Fishing Tools

About the role
Weatherford is seeking an experienced Repair & Maintenance (R&M) Technician to join its Intervention Services & Drilling Tools team in Altens, Aberdeen. The role focuses on the inspection, repair, refurbishment and maintenance of fishing tools used in oil‑and‑gas operations, ensuring they are ready for the next deployment.
Key responsibilities
- Participate in daily safety meetings, toolbox talks and Job Hazard Analyses, reporting any issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean, safe work environment and ensure all equipment and facilities are in good condition.
- Repair machines, structures and tools using hand tools, power tools, hoists, cranes, drills, wrenches and precision measuring instruments.
- Inspect components with calipers, micrometers and other measuring devices to verify dimensional requirements.
- Execute the full maintenance cycle: unloading, disassembly, cleaning, pressure testing, visual inspection, painting, re‑assembly, loading and storage, completing all required documentation.
- Complete and update work orders, checklists and forms in line with training and competence levels.
- Operate lifting equipment, pallet trucks and forklift trucks for safe movement of crates, containers and tools, holding valid certification for forklift and crane use.
- Receive incoming shipments, validate quantities, prepare dispatches and order parts or supplies following Weatherford procedures.
Required profile
- 3‑6 years of hands‑on experience in an oil‑and‑gas workshop environment.
- Basic mathematics skills and ability to work with hazardous materials, including radioactive elements and explosives.
- Familiarity with NDT/NDE techniques and ATEX regulations.
- Certification to operate lifting equipment such as forklifts and cranes.
Required skills
- Use of hand and power tools for repair and assembly.
- Operation of forklifts, cranes and pallet trucks.
- Precision measuring with calipers, micrometers and similar instruments.
- Pressure testing of tools and equipment.
- Interpretation of technical manuals, procedures and work instructions.
- Knowledge of NDT/NDE principles and ATEX compliance.
- Application of LEAN principles for continuous improvement.
