RSHE and Independent Living Skills Teacher

About the role

As the RSHE & Independent Living Skills Teacher at Waterloo Lodge School you will adopt a creative, personalised approach to help pupils develop essential life skills. Working within a strong safeguarding culture, you will inspire confidence and prepare young people for life beyond the classroom.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging RSHE lessons covering healthy relationships, consent, wellbeing, mental health, puberty and personal safety.
• Teach practical independent living skills such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, budgeting, shopping and using public transport safely.
• Break down learning into manageable steps for pupils with complex SEN, ASC and SEMH needs.
• Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals to enhance learning experiences.

Required profile

• Degree level qualification with QTS or QTLS (ECT applicants welcome).
• Experience delivering personalised lessons to pupils with complex special educational needs.
• Ability to create an inclusive, nurturing classroom environment.
• Commitment to supporting pupils’ emotional, social and academic development.

Required skills

What we offer

• Permanent, term‑time only contract with a salary of £39,000 per year.
• 40‑hour week, Monday‑Friday, 8:30 am‑4:30 pm.
