SEN Teaching Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team on a full‑time basis in Chorley. The role involves supporting students with special educational needs during the school day, Monday to Friday, with an immediate start.

Key responsibilities

• Support students with SEN in the classroom during morning lessons, helping them engage with the curriculum and make progress.
• Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group assistance, adapting activities to meet individual needs.
• Assist the class teacher in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
• Implement and follow individual education plans (IEPs), monitoring each pupil’s progress.
• Help manage behaviour and encourage positive social and emotional development.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, ideally within an SEN setting.
• Patience, empathy and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
• A relevant qualification in supporting teaching and learning is desirable.
• Strong communication skills and a team‑player attitude.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
