Sales Assistant – Building Materials Retail

About the role

Travis Perkins, the UK's largest distributor of building materials with over 1,400 branches, is hiring a Sales Assistant in its Keighley branch. The post is permanent and full time, with competitive pay plus bonus and benefits. The role combines customer-facing sales with yard work.

Key responsibilities

• Build strong customer relationships in person and by phone, meeting customers' current and future needs
• Promote additional products from the combined range offered with partner businesses
• Work in the Yard processing orders, loading and unloading vehicles and booking deliveries into the system
• Handle heavy and bulky stock in the Yard and Warehouse safely
• Support colleagues across the wider branch

Required profile

• Confident physical ability to move heavy and bulky stock within health and safety guidelines
• Positive, purposeful sales approach
• Self-motivated, able to multi-task and stay organised in fast-paced environments
• Team player willing to step outside their own role to help colleagues
• No prior expertise in building materials needed, as training is provided on the job
