Sales Assistant – Retail & Charity (Dalston)

About the role

Traid is seeking a motivated Sales Assistant for its Dalston store. The role combines retail, fashion and charitable work, offering customers a high‑quality second‑hand shopping experience while supporting the organisation’s mission.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service and create a welcoming in‑store experience.
• Maintain smooth shop operations, including opening and closing procedures.
• Process weekly deliveries, tag, price and merchandise items to keep the floor fully stocked.
• Act as shop cashier, handle transactions and balance the till at the end of each day.
• Collect and process Gift Aid donations.
• Cover the store manager’s duties in their absence and act as a brand ambassador.

Required profile

• Passion for second‑hand clothing, fashion and knowledge of brands.
• Team‑player with the stamina to work in a busy retail environment.
• Reliable track record in customer‑facing roles.
• Strong communication skills and a proactive, solution‑oriented mindset.
• Flexibility with working hours and days.

Required skills

• Cash handling and till reconciliation.
• Basic pricing, tagging and merchandising techniques.
• Ability to process Gift Aid donations.
