Sanctions Validation Analyst AVP – 12 Month Contract

About the role

We are seeking a Sanctions Validation Analyst AVP to join a leading bank on a 12‑month contract. Based in London with a hybrid working model, you will act as the subject‑matter expert for the first line of defence, helping to protect the bank from sanctions‑related financial crime.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse first‑order (FO) submissions via EIC and ACCORD for new client onboarding, periodic reviews and updates, ensuring compliance with CPD AML/CTF standards and regulatory guidance.
• Escalate complex cases to the second line of defence for further advice and guidance.
• Mentor and train junior staff on systems, policies and procedures.
• Remediate files flagged by quality assurance, sharing learning points with the team.
• Identify inefficiencies in workflows or systems, propose enhancements and quantify financial or operational gains.
• Participate in or lead project work, including system development testing and implementation.
• Support the production of management information for bank committees, highlighting inconsistencies and ensuring processes are up‑to‑date.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of sanctions, AML and CTF regulations within a banking environment.
• Experience working in the three‑lines‑of‑defence model, preferably at an AVP or senior analyst level.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid setting.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
