School Nurse – Health Centre (Part‑time)

About the role

Brighton College is looking for a qualified NMC‑registered Nurse to join its Health Centre team on a part‑time, permanent basis. The role involves delivering person‑centred, holistic care to pupils, staff and boarding students aged 3‑18 within the school environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care, assess, treat and monitor illnesses, injuries and chronic conditions of pupils and boarding students.
• Safely administer prescribed and non‑prescription medication in line with school policies and the Nursing and Midwifery Code of Conduct.
• Maintain accurate health records and develop Individualised Health Care Plans in partnership with pupils, parents or guardians.
• Coordinate medical appointments, referrals and follow‑up care, and promote infection prevention and public health awareness.
• Support boarding pupils with evening and overnight health duties, working closely with house staff and pastoral teams.
• Prepare health reports, ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and liaise with parents’ healthcare providers.

Required profile

• NMC‑registered Nurse with experience caring for children and young people.
• Ability to work with pupils aged 3‑18, including boarding students.
• Strong knowledge of infection prevention, medication administration and health‑care documentation.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with pastoral, safeguarding and external health services.
