School Science Technician – Fixed‑Term (Sept Start)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Science Technician to join a supportive secondary school in Congleton. The role starts in September on a full‑time, fixed‑term basis, initially running until December with the possibility of extension. You will work closely with teaching staff to ensure smooth delivery of practical science lessons across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, set up and clear away equipment and materials for practical science lessons.
• Support teachers in delivering experiments and provide technical assistance to students.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, ensure resources are stocked and ready for use.
• Safely store and handle chemicals and scientific apparatus.
• Assist with risk assessments and uphold departmental health and safety procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Science Technician in a school or educational setting.
• Strong scientific knowledge and familiarity with laboratory procedures.
• Experience preparing practical resources for biology, chemistry and physics lessons.
• Good awareness of health and safety requirements in a lab environment.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
• A relevant science qualification or degree is desirable.
