Science SEN Teaching Assistant

About the role

Reed Education is recruiting for a specialist SEN secondary setting that needs a dedicated Science Teaching Assistant. You will support Key Stage 3 and 4 students with GCSE Science, helping them engage with the curriculum and achieve their qualifications.

Key responsibilities

• Support students during Biology, Chemistry and Physics lessons.
• Provide targeted 1:1 and small‑group interventions to raise attainment.
• Assist with practical experiments and classroom preparation.
• Support pupils with SEND and SEMH needs, encouraging positive engagement and attendance.
• Work closely with teachers to monitor progress, identify learning gaps and promote positive behaviour.
• Help students develop confidence, independence and resilience.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of GCSE Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics).
• Experience supporting secondary‑aged students.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Behaviour management capability.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
