SEMH Learning Support Assistant – Primary School (Slough)

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate SEMH Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Slough. You will work closely with pupils who have social, emotional, and mental health needs, helping them to engage with learning and develop resilience in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions tailored to SEMH needs.
• Support pupils in developing emotional regulation and coping strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral staff to ensure consistent support.
• Implement behaviour support strategies and contribute to personalised intervention plans.
• Promote an inclusive, emotionally supportive classroom atmosphere.

Required profile

• Patient, compassionate and committed to supporting children with additional needs.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Proactive, adaptable and confident working with pupils requiring extra emotional support.
• Interest in a future career in teaching, educational psychology, counselling, youth work, social work or related fields.
