Semi‑Senior Accountant – Stockport

About the role

Join a respected independent accountancy practice in Stockport as a Semi‑Senior Accountant. You will work with a supportive team, handling a diverse portfolio of owner‑managed businesses and developing your technical expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare year‑end statutory accounts and management accounts.
• Compile corporation tax computations and returns.
• Handle personal tax returns, self‑assessment and VAT returns.
• Perform bookkeeping tasks where required.
• Liaise directly with clients and HMRC, responding to queries.
• Manage workload to meet strict deadlines.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an accountancy practice.
• Ability to prepare complete draft accounts with minimal supervision.
• Strong knowledge of corporation tax, management accounts, bookkeeping, personal tax and VAT.
• Proactive attitude and confidence in client interaction.
• Part‑qualified, qualified or qualified by experience.
