SEN Learning Support Assistant – Lewisham Specialist School

About the role

The specialist school in Lewisham is seeking a caring and enthusiastic SEN Learning Support Assistant to join its team from September 2026. You will work directly with pupils who have a range of special educational needs, helping them access the curriculum and develop socially and emotionally.

Key responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, moderate and complex learning difficulties.
• Support pupils both inside the classroom and during wider school activities.
• Assist teachers with differentiated learning activities and targeted interventions.
• Promote independence, confidence and social development.
• Help maintain a positive, inclusive and safe learning environment.
• Collaborate with teachers, SEN staff and parents to monitor progress.

Required profile

• Passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
• Graduates, aspiring teachers, support workers or anyone with experience working with children and young people.
• Ability to work with a variety of SEN categories, including ASD, ADHD and speech‑language difficulties.
