SEN Learning Support Assistant (Secondary)

About the role

Prospero Teaching is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant for a secondary school in Winchester with a dedicated SEN provision. The role involves delivering targeted interventions and personalised learning support to students with additional needs, helping them progress academically, build confidence and improve wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support tailored to individual learning needs.
• Implement and monitor personalised learning plans and interventions.
• Build strong, positive relationships with students, teachers and support staff.
• Adapt teaching approaches and resources to suit diverse SEN requirements.
• Celebrate and document student progress at all levels.
• Maintain a proactive, reliable presence within the school environment.

Required profile

• Patience, empathy and a calm approach when working with young people.
• Ability to build strong, positive relationships with students and staff.
• Flexibility to adapt support to individual learning needs.
• Commitment to celebrating student progress.
• Proactive and reliable attitude in a school setting.
• GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths.
• Caring and consistent approach to behaviour support.
• Friendly, professional manner with strong attendance and work ethic.
• Previous experience supporting young people or SEN is desirable.
