SEN Nature Teacher (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

This one‑year fixed‑term position is based in a welcoming primary school in Accrington. The successful candidate will join the specialist SEN Hub to deliver nature‑based learning experiences that support the academic, social and emotional development of pupils with additional needs.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver outdoor, hands‑on lessons that align with the curriculum and SEN objectives.
• Work with pupils who have Autism Spectrum Disorder, non‑verbal communication needs, profound and multiple learning difficulties, and SEMH challenges.
• Collaborate with the SEN leadership team and other specialists to create inclusive learning environments.
• Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting activities to promote confidence, independence and life‑skills.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to individual education plans (IEPs).

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or eligibility to achieve QTS by September 2026.
• Genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
• Creative, patient and committed to inclusive practice.
• Previous SEN experience is desirable, though a strong interest in outdoor learning is also valued.
