SEN Teacher – Autism Resource Provision (Rochdale)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced SEN Teacher to lead a specialist autism provision within a mainstream primary school in Rochdale. You will be responsible for a small class of pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and personalised speech and language targets, supported by a dedicated team of Teaching Assistants.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver a personalised curriculum tailored to pupils with autism.
• Lead a small class within a specialist provision based in a mainstream school.
• Support pupils working towards individual EHCP and speech and language targets.
• Adapt teaching approaches to meet a range of communication needs, including non‑verbal learners.
• Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, external professionals and families.
• Monitor and assess progress, maintaining accurate records and reports.
• Create a positive, structured and nurturing learning environment.
• Promote communication, independence and emotional wellbeing.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching pupils with autism.
• Confidence supporting non‑verbal pupils and those with complex communication needs.
• Strong understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning programmes.
• Ability to plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons that meet individual needs.
• Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Commitment to inclusive education and positive outcomes for all pupils.
• Experience working within specialist provisions, autism units or SEN settings.

• Salary paid in line with the Main Teacher Pay Scale (GBP 184.83 – 240.72 per day).
• Full‑time, term‑time only contract.
