SEN Teacher – Specialist School (Aylesbury)

About the role
We are seeking a passionate SEN Teacher to join our specialist school in Aylesbury, supporting students aged 11‑19 with complex learning difficulties, including severe and profound multiple learning difficulties. The role involves delivering highly differentiated lessons and fostering an inclusive environment that promotes independence and life‑skill development.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, highly differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
- Teach and support students aged 11‑19 with complex learning difficulties, including SLD and PMLD.
- Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning, wellbeing, and independence.
- Collaborate with teaching assistants, therapists, families, and external agencies to provide holistic support.
- Develop and implement personalised learning programmes aligned with EHCP outcomes.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching approaches to maximise engagement and achievement.
- Support development of communication, social, emotional, sensory, and life skills alongside academic learning.
- Contribute to annual reviews, transition planning, and wider school initiatives.
Required profile
- Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs, particularly complex learning difficulties.
- Understanding of teaching strategies for SLD, PMLD, and associated communication and sensory needs.
- Creative, patient, resilient, and adaptable approach to teaching and learning.
- Strong communication and collaborative working skills.
- Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and achieving the best outcomes for every student.
