SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Blackpool)

About the role

This full‑time, term‑time position supports pupils with a range of special educational needs in a Blackpool primary school. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to help students overcome barriers and achieve their potential.

Key responsibilities

• Implement individualised support plans under guidance of the class teacher and SENCO.
• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group assistance both inside and outside the classroom.
• Adapt learning materials and activities to suit each pupil’s needs.
• Support social and emotional development, encouraging positive behaviour and self‑regulation.
• Assist with personal care when required, following appropriate training.
• Observe, record and report on student progress and any emerging concerns.

Required profile

• Genuine passion for working with children who have special educational needs.
• Relevant qualification (Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) or equivalent experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliability and punctuality for a Monday‑Friday schedule.
• Basic understanding of child development and learning.
• Experience with SEND is desirable but not essential.
