SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School in Blackburn

About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to join primary schools across Blackburn. You will work with children from EYFS to Year 6, providing tailored support for a range of additional needs and helping each pupil reach their full potential.

Key responsibilities

• Assist pupils with SEND, SEMH, autism, ADHD and other learning or behavioural needs.
• Implement behaviour‑management strategies and adapt learning resources.
• Collaborate closely with teachers to plan and deliver inclusive lessons.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, sharing insights with staff and families.
• Maintain safeguarding standards and follow all relevant policies.

Required profile

• Previous experience supporting children with SEN/SEND or SEMH (highly desirable).
• Experience in a primary‑school setting (highly desirable).
• Excellent communication and a patient, caring approach.
• Strong commitment to children’s learning and wellbeing.

Required skills

• Effective communication.
• Behaviour‑management techniques.
• Knowledge of SEN, SEND, SEMH, autism and ADHD support strategies.
