SEN Teaching Assistant – Year 1 Support in Lewisham

About the role

We are partnering with an inclusive primary school in Lewisham that needs a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide one‑to‑one support for a Year 1 pupil with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This full‑time position starts as soon as possible and may continue into the next academic year.

Key responsibilities

• Support the pupil’s learning in class, small groups and on a one‑to‑one basis.
• Implement and follow the pupil’s individual support plan, ensuring access to the curriculum.
• Assist the teacher with classroom activities, behaviour management and lesson preparation.
• Observe progress, record observations and provide feedback to the teacher.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably with SEN or Early Years settings.
• Warm, patient and engaging approach with strong communication skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children’s wellbeing.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
