SEN Tutor – Complex Needs (Part‑time Contract)

About the role

Prospero Teaching is looking for experienced SEN Tutors to provide 1:1 specialist educational support to children and young people with complex special educational needs in Barking and Dagenham. The role is contract‑based, part‑time and involves delivering highly personalised, trauma‑informed sessions across a range of settings.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 specialist tuition to learners with complex SEN, including ASD, SEMH, global developmental delay, communication and sensory processing difficulties.
• Tailor sessions to individual EHCP outcomes and learning profiles, supporting academic engagement, emotional regulation and independence.
• Provide tuition in family homes, libraries, community venues or other approved settings with a responsible adult present.
• Monitor learner progress and report outcomes to Prospero’s Learning Delivery Team.

Required profile

• Minimum two years’ experience working with SEN learners from primary to post‑16.
• Strong understanding of EHCPs and differentiated instructional approaches.
• Relevant qualification such as QTS, PGCE, SEN qualification or equivalent.
• Right to work in the UK and an Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain).

Required skills

• Knowledge of communication strategies, sensory needs and behaviour support.
• Ability to deliver trauma‑informed, personalised learning.
