SENCO – Special Educational Needs Coordinator

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and passionate SENCO to join our inclusive primary school in Lewisham from September 2026. The successful candidate will lead the school’s SEND provision, ensuring that every pupil with special educational needs and disabilities receives the support they need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the strategic vision for SEND provision across the school.
• Coordinate and monitor support for pupils with SEND, ensuring timely interventions.
• Maintain compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
• Collaborate with teachers to adapt teaching and learning for diverse learners.
• Manage Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and oversee annual reviews.
• Analyse progress data and evaluate the impact of interventions.
• Liaise with parents, carers and external professionals.
• Provide coaching, training and guidance to staff.
• Contribute to safeguarding and the overall welfare of children.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience working with a range of SEND needs in a primary setting.
• National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or willingness to undertake it.
• Strong knowledge of current SEND legislation and best practice.
• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational abilities.
• Commitment to inclusion and collaborative teamwork.
