About the role
Leeds City College is looking for an experienced SEND professional to lead the placement and support of students with Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs) and other SEND needs within the 14‑16 Skills Programme. The role acts as the primary operational contact for parents, curriculum staff and external agencies, driving positive outcomes for disadvantaged and vulnerable learners.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of SEND legislation and its impact on the college’s provision.
- Chair annual EHCP review meetings, ensuring paperwork meets Local Authority standards and statutory timelines.
- Deliver support in line with assessed needs and funding for all high‑needs learners.
- Complete the college’s quality‑assurance training programme for EHCP reviews (“The Licence To Review”).
- Provide evidence for funding claims related to the 14‑16 provision.
Required profile
- Compassionate, highly organised SEND professional with a passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.
- Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, EHCP processes and inclusive practice.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with learners, families, staff and external agencies.
- Confidence in chairing statutory reviews and managing funding requirements.
- Alignment with the ethos of the 14‑16 Skills Programme – relationship‑focused, individual‑centred and nurturing.
Required skills
- Level 5 teaching qualification or relevant SEND/Learning Support qualification (or willingness to work towards).
- English and Mathematics at Level 2 or above, with a willingness to progress to Level 3.
