SEND Specialist Teaching Assistant – Full‑time, £95‑£100 per day

About the role

We are seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Lewisham. The role provides long‑term, full‑time support for pupils with autism, severe and profound learning difficulties, and complex communication needs.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 and small‑group support throughout the school day.
• Assist pupils in accessing personalised learning activities and using visual supports, AAC, symbols or Makaton.
• Support sensory‑based learning, emotional regulation and physical care where required.
• Promote independence, social interaction and life‑skills development.
• Collaborate with teachers, speech‑language therapists, occupational therapists and other professionals.

Required profile

• Previous experience in SEND or specialist education settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work with pupils who have autism, SLD, PMLD and complex communication needs.
• Patience, consistency and a nurturing approach.

Required skills

• Knowledge of visual communication aids and AAC strategies.
• Familiarity with sensory integration techniques.
