SEND Teaching Assistant – Chelmsford

About the role
We are looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Chelmsford, Essex. The role starts in September 2026 and is full‑time, offering a supportive environment for both new graduates and experienced assistants.
Key responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the class teacher to deliver inclusive learning for pupils with a range of abilities.
- Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to students with special educational needs.
- Supervise pupils during lunch, break times, field trips and other out‑of‑class activities.
- Collaborate with external specialists and adopt a multi‑agency approach when required.
Required profile
- Current DBS check on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
- Patient, compassionate, calm and approachable with strong rapport‑building skills.
- Desire to make a positive impact on young people’s lives.
- Experience working with children or young people.
- GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and Maths.
- Teaching Assistant qualification or related experience is desirable but not essential.
Required skills
- Knowledge of the additional needs of children with SEND and how to support them.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good communication skills with pupils, staff and external partners.
