Senior Accountant – Client Manager Role

About the role

A modern, dynamic accountancy practice is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its growing team in Abingdon. The role combines hands‑on accounting work with client‑management responsibilities, offering a hybrid working pattern once settled.

Key responsibilities

• Portfolio Management – prepare and review statutory accounts (FRS 102 Section 1A) for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
• Taxation – produce corporation tax computations, self‑assessment returns and manage VAT returns/advice.
• Client Relations – act as the main point of contact, building proactive relationships and managing expectations.
• Team Leadership – mentor junior staff and lead by example on quality and service.
• Practice Growth – monitor regulatory changes (including MTD for Income Tax) and identify value‑add opportunities for clients.

Required profile

• Fully qualified ACCA, ACA or CIMA member.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a UK accountancy practice.
• Strong year‑end accounts preparation and confidence with corporation tax, self‑assessment and VAT.
• Ability to manage a portfolio independently and deliver partner‑ready files.
• Clear, professional communication with clients and colleagues.
• Experience with cloud‑based accounting packages and preferably practice management software.
• Familiarity with MTD for Income Tax and exposure to SEIS/EIS, director loan accounts and s455 tax.
