Senior Accountant

About the role

We are partnering with a rapidly expanding independent accountancy practice in Harrow that is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant. The role offers the chance to manage a diverse portfolio of owner‑managed businesses, influence the firm’s growth and work closely with partners.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied portfolio of clients across multiple sectors, acting as their trusted adviser.
• Prepare and review statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.
• Produce management accounts and deliver commercial insight.
• Prepare and review corporation tax returns and oversee VAT returns.
• Review bookkeeping work completed by junior team members.
• Build and maintain long‑term client relationships, serving as the first point of contact.
• Mentor and support junior staff, contributing to their development.
• Identify process improvements and add advisory value for clients.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified, or qualified by experience with significant UK practice exposure.
• Strong background in general practice accounting and corporation tax.
• Proven experience managing your own client portfolio.
• Comfortable reviewing work and supporting junior colleagues.
• Excellent communication and commercial awareness.
