Senior Accountant – London Finance Team

About the role

Join a dynamic London‑based finance team as a Senior Accountant, supporting the financial operations of a London office and an FX & Commodity trading desk. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will manage essential accounting processes while collaborating with multiple departments and regulatory bodies.

Key responsibilities

• Support quarterly and annual FCA submissions for regulated entities.
• Assist in budgeting, financial forecasting and drive process improvements through automation.
• Prepare financial statements and workpapers for UK entity audits.
• Handle quarterly VAT submissions for the UK group.
• Manage day‑to‑day accounting for two entities, ensuring compliance with local GAAP/IFRS.
• Participate in yearly corporate tax filings and coordinate third‑party advisors.
• Lead month‑end processes, including invoice booking, payments, bookkeeping and month‑end reconciliations.

Required profile

• Self‑driven, proactive and able to work independently.
• ACCA qualified or equivalent.
• 5+ years of relevant experience (or 2+ years post‑qualification experience).
• Solid understanding of multi‑entity accounting across multiple currencies.
• Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Comfortable in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
• Interest in financial markets and trading instruments is a plus.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Excel.
• Experience with ERP/accounting software.
• Familiarity with scripting or data tools such as Python (bonus).
• Experience with AI and automation tools (highly advantageous).
