Senior Accountant – Not‑for‑Profit Finance Leadership

About the role

We are supporting a well‑established not‑for‑profit organisation that needs a senior accountant to manage a portfolio of entities and drive financial excellence. This role offers a clear pathway toward senior finance leadership, with the potential to progress to Head of Finance within 18 months.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare quarterly management accounts across multiple client organisations.
• Lead statutory accounts preparation, coordinating across differing year‑end timetables.
• Drive budgeting processes and contribute to long‑term business planning.
• Manage competing reporting deadlines for several entities.
• Review financial information to ensure high accuracy standards.
• Manage and develop two qualified accountants within the team.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
• Strong experience preparing statutory accounts.
• Proven ability to produce management accounts, budgets and financial reports.
• Experience managing multiple clients, entities or reporting deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal and service‑focused approach.
• Understanding of the not‑for‑profit sector’s financial challenges.
• Background in accountancy practice, especially hands‑on accounts preparation, is advantageous.
