Senior Accountant (Team Manager) – Interim (3‑4 months)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to lead a finance team within a Local Government Adult Social Care & Health Directorate in Warwickshire. This interim position runs for an initial three to four months, with the possibility of extension, and offers a competitive day rate.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a finance team of five staff members.
• Provide financial business partnering to Adult Social Care & Health services.
• Oversee budget setting, forecasting, monitoring and financial reporting.
• Manage financial pressures and support delivery of savings plans.
• Support financial evaluations, project costing and service transformation initiatives.
• Produce accurate and timely financial reports for senior stakeholders.
• Assist with audits, grant returns and Freedom of Information requests.
• Maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the directorate.
• Ensure compliance with local government financial regulations and procedures.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Senior Accountant in a Local Authority setting.
• Previous finance experience within Adult Social Care.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage finance staff.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis capabilities.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and handle a busy workload.
• Experience supporting financial savings and transformation programmes.
