Senior AI Developer

About the role

Apache Associates is partnering with a fast‑growing SaaS organisation to embed AI across its product suite. We are seeking a Senior Applied AI Engineer who will lead the design, implementation and scaling of production‑ready AI capabilities while mentoring engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and refine prompts, context strategies and agentic workflows for real‑world AI product features.
• Develop robust evaluation frameworks for LLM outputs using business‑driven quality metrics.
• Work across multiple LLM providers, balancing quality, cost and latency.
• Collaborate with product managers, owners and subject‑matter experts to translate business problems into AI solutions.
• Coach and mentor engineers through pairing, workshops, technical reviews and one‑to‑one sessions.
• Create and maintain reusable prompt patterns, templates, evaluation harnesses and internal guidance.
• Lead an internal AI community of practice to share successes, failures and lessons learned.
• Define and keep current standards for prompting, context engineering and evaluation as models evolve.
• Provide leadership with measurable evidence of AI value and act as a constructive challenger for demo‑level solutions.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience delivering AI‑driven features in production environments.
• Strong ability to translate complex business requirements into effective AI solutions.
• Excellent communication and coaching skills to raise AI capability across engineering teams.
• Track record of establishing best‑practice standards for AI evaluation and safety.
