Senior Architect

About the role

IPS is seeking a Senior Architect to join its EMEA team at the Birmingham headquarters. The role will lead the design of pharmaceutical and life‑science facilities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while supporting manufacturing and operational processes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop project scopes, budgets and staffing plans in collaboration with Project Managers and the Head of CSA.
• Write architectural scope of work based on client meetings and preliminary reviews.
• Present proposals and coordinate with external organisations and design professionals for code interpretations.
• Assign, review and monitor the work of the project design team, flagging scope changes to the Project Manager.
• Review contractor technical submissions and manage construction administration.
• Coordinate project documentation internally and with clients and external designers.
• Prepare or review construction budgets and promote IPS design standards.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to special projects as required.

Required profile

• 10+ years of architectural design experience, preferably in life‑science, pharmaceutical, biotech or healthcare facilities.
• Bachelor of Architecture degree from an accredited university.
• Proven experience managing domestic and international projects.
• Strong understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory compliance, material and personnel flow, and construction processes.

Required skills

• Autodesk Revit (minimum 5 years of experience).
