Senior Building Surveyor – Major Claims (Scotland/North East England)

About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to manage major loss claims across Scotland and the North East of England. You will lead site inspections, assess damage, and provide technical advice to insurers and policyholders.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections of damaged residential and commercial properties throughout the UK.
• Assess building damage and produce detailed reports, specifications, and tender documents.
• Project‑manage complex reinstatement works, ensuring quality, cost control and timely delivery.
• Administer contracts and maintain documentation for major loss claims.
• Build and maintain relationships with policyholders, insurers, loss adjusters, brokers and contractors.
• Deliver high‑level customer service, particularly for high‑net‑worth clients, and provide regular updates throughout the claims process.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, client requirements and industry regulations.
• Identify opportunities to enhance outcomes through wider group services and support colleagues during peak periods.

Required profile

• Relevant technical or loss adjusting experience in major loss surveying.
• Degree in Building Surveying (BSc Hons) or equivalent.
• Professional membership such as MCIOB or MRICS is desirable but not essential.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organisational abilities and customer‑service focus.
