Senior Buyer – Mattresses, Soft Furnishings & Beds

About the role

As a Senior Buyer for the Mattresses, Soft Furnishings and Beds & Furniture range at Bensons for Beds, you will lead the end‑to‑end buying and merchandising process. You will shape the product assortment, drive commercial performance and ensure customers receive high‑quality, on‑trend products that meet business targets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies, annual plans and promotional calendars to hit sales, margin and stock objectives.
• Source, negotiate and manage supplier relationships, securing optimal cost, quality and lead times.
• Own range architecture, including new product development, assortment planning, pack sizes and SKU rationalisation.
• Collaborate with merchandising, product development, marketing and operations to launch products and activate them in stores and online.
• Analyse sales, margin and inventory data to inform buying decisions and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with trading policies, quality standards and regulatory requirements.
• Mentor junior buyers, sharing best practices and building team capability.

Required profile

• 3–5+ years of buying and merchandising experience in furniture, mattresses, soft furnishings or related retail categories.
• Proven commercial acumen with a track record of improving sales and margins.
• Strong negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships.
• Analytical mindset with confidence using sales, margin and inventory reporting tools.
• Ability to influence stakeholders and deliver cross‑functional projects on time.
