Senior Compliance Manager

About the role

Birchlake Recruitment is partnering with a leading retail financial services client to hire a Senior Compliance Manager for their UK Compliance team based in Berkshire. Reporting to the Head of Compliance & MLRO, you will lead the development and maintenance of the compliance framework across all UK entities, balancing strategic oversight with hands‑on delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Head of Compliance & MLRO in maintaining and enhancing the Compliance Framework.
• Deputise for the Head of Compliance when required.
• Lead, coach and develop Regional Compliance Managers and the wider Compliance team.
• Oversee departmental workload and ensure timely delivery of compliance activities.
• Develop and deliver the annual Compliance Monitoring Plan.
• Conduct thematic reviews, targeted assessments and monitor remediation activity.
• Manage the Intermediary Oversight Framework using a risk‑based approach.
• Oversee retailer, broker and appointed representative compliance audits.
• Support regulatory change programmes, FCA reviews and implementation of regulatory action plans.
• Prepare reporting for Compliance, Executive and Board committees.

Required profile

• Experienced compliance professional with a strong background in financial services regulation.
• Proven leadership experience, capable of coaching and developing teams.
• Ability to work with senior stakeholders and balance strategic and operational tasks.
• Willingness to travel regularly across the UK and work in a hybrid model.
