Senior Consultant / Managing Consultant (Economist)

About the role

SQW Group Ltd is seeking a Senior or Managing Consultant with an economics background to lead high‑impact quantitative research, modelling and evaluation projects across the UK. You will work on policy‑relevant questions in economic development, innovation, employment, health, and the Net Zero transition.

Key responsibilities

• Apply advanced econometric and statistical methods to real‑world policy questions.
• Conduct policy and programme evaluations, economic impact assessments and Green Book appraisals.
• Perform forecasting, scenario modelling and data visualisation.
• Prepare reports, presentations and technical outputs for clients.
• Develop new business proposals and methodological approaches.
• Manage quantitative‑led projects and engage directly with clients (depending on experience).
• Support business development and enhance SQW’s quantitative capability.

Required profile

• 2:1 or higher degree in economics, econometrics, statistics or related discipline (post‑graduate qualifications desirable).
• Strong experience applying econometric and statistical techniques to complex policy questions.
• Proficiency in R and/or Python for quantitative analysis and modelling.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience using data visualisation tools such as Power BI.
• High digital proficiency, including Microsoft 365 applications.
