Senior Critical Environment Technician (Shift Lead)

About the role

As a Senior Critical Environment Technician (Shift Lead) you will ensure the reliability of critical infrastructure that powers Microsoft’s datacenters. You will lead a shift team, mentor technicians and collaborate with vendors and management to maintain and improve environmental systems.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the operations specialist for a major area (electrical, mechanical, controls, generators) and perform advanced tasks independently.
• Inspect, supervise and maintain critical environment equipment such as HVAC, heating, ventilation, cooling, mechanical systems and generators.
• Utilize the internal CMMS to track assets, create and close work orders, and document maintenance activities.
• Lead onsite incident response teams for abnormal conditions, coordinating with other critical facilities professionals.
• Monitor equipment performance using telemetry platforms and address operational, risk and safety issues.
• Coordinate with suppliers and vendors and mentor junior technicians.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience with datacenter or similar critical environment facilities.
• Hands‑on knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC and control systems.
• Proven ability to lead a shift and respond to incidents quickly and safely.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently.
