Senior Data Engineer – Cloud & Azure Focus

About the role

We are partnering with a fast‑growing organisation in Buckinghamshire to hire a Senior Data Engineer. You will design, develop and maintain modern, cloud‑based data solutions that power business reporting and analytics.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Develop and optimise Azure‑based data solutions, including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Synapse Analytics and Microsoft Fabric.
• Improve data quality, governance and documentation.
• Optimise SQL queries and database performance.
• Create data models to support analytics and reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with BI developers, data analysts and business stakeholders.
• Support migration of legacy data platforms into Azure.
• Contribute to best‑practice automation, CI/CD and deployment processes.

Required profile

• Strong commercial experience as a Data Engineer.
• Advanced SQL development skills.
• Commercial experience with Python.
• Hands‑on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF).
• Experience using Microsoft Azure data services.
• Deep understanding of ETL/ELT processes.
• Experience designing and maintaining data pipelines.
• Knowledge of data‑warehousing concepts and data modelling.
• Proficiency with Git/version control.
• Excellent communication with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
