SOC Analyst – Security Operations Center

About the role

SiXworks is seeking a SOC Analyst to monitor and protect secure digital solutions for defence and national security missions. You will work in a 24/7 security operations centre, collaborating with engineers and architects to ensure rapid, safe decision‑making for critical operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead shifts across the 24/7 SOC service delivery.
• Provide oversight and mentorship to Junior Analysts.
• Monitor systems for security alerts, intrusions, or unauthorised activity.
• Respond to incidents using established playbooks and escalate complex cases to Tier 2 response teams.
• Review and improve existing security controls in a rapidly evolving technical environment.
• Analyse vulnerability scanning reports and feed findings back to technical teams.
• Assess secure configurations and coordinate remediation actions.
• Generate regular service and security reports for stakeholders.
• Suggest service‑improvement ideas to the SOC Manager.
• Stay up‑to‑date with emerging threats and security trends.

Required profile

• Previous experience in security, SOC or a related technical field.
• Experience with incident management and vulnerability management.
• Relevant cyber‑security qualifications or comparable technical credentials.
• Understanding of cloud‑computing concepts.
• Knowledge of risk management, information security (CIA), phishing, ransomware and other key threats.
• Familiarity with identity and access management (IDAM) and joiners‑movers‑leavers (JML) processes.
• Interest in continuous improvement and problem solving.
