Senior Data Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join a leading mechanical engineering client on a three‑month contract. The role is hybrid, requiring 2‑3 days per week on‑site in Blackburn, and will focus on accelerating current data projects that are behind schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines using the Azure ecosystem.
• Implement and enforce data governance policies across the organisation.
• Develop and optimise data warehousing solutions to support reporting and analytics.
• Collaborate with engineering and business teams to translate requirements into technical designs.
• Explore AI‑related opportunities where relevant.

Required profile

• Extensive experience as a Senior Data Engineer.
• Strong background with the full Azure technology stack.
• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Fabric.
• Proven expertise in data governance and data warehousing.
• Ability to work on‑site in Blackburn 2‑3 days a week.
