Senior Data Engineering Manager

About the role

Lead and grow a high‑performing data engineering organisation within Very, a digital retailer. You will shape strategy, drive modern engineering practices and ensure delivery of secure, reliable and scalable data products.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership to multiple Data Engineering and BI Engineering managers and a team of around 40 engineers and analysts.
• Define and execute the data engineering strategy, including cloud adoption, platform optimisation and technical debt management.
• Deliver trusted, scalable data products in collaboration with business domains.
• Build strong relationships with product, architecture and business stakeholders to translate priorities into engineering outcomes.

Required profile

• Significant experience leading large‑scale data engineering organisations in modern technology environments.
• Proven track record of building, developing and inspiring high‑performing engineering teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence senior leaders.
• Experience in Agile, DevSecOps and product‑led delivery environments.
