Senior Data Governance Specialist

About the role

Save the Children International is seeking a Senior Specialist to lead the implementation, adoption and continuous improvement of data governance frameworks globally. The role ensures effective data management, regulatory compliance and high data quality to support better decision‑making for children’s programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and enhancement of data governance policies, standards, frameworks and controls across the organisation.
• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to drive adoption of data governance practices and strengthen governance capability.
• Define and maintain data governance artefacts such as business glossaries, metadata standards, data dictionaries and Critical Data Elements.
• Facilitate data governance forums, working groups and stewardship communities to ensure accountability and engagement.
• Monitor governance maturity, compliance and performance through KPIs, reporting and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven problem‑solving and risk‑management ability to resolve complex data governance challenges.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, able to influence senior data owners and stewards.
• Leadership and change‑management experience to promote adoption of governance frameworks across global, diverse teams.

Required skills

• Power BI – advanced analytics and dashboard creation.
• Data governance tools (e.g., data catalogues, metadata management platforms).
• Data catalogues for metadata and data lineage documentation.
• Reporting solutions for governance monitoring and decision support.
