Senior Database Developer (SQL) – Front Office Trading

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Database Developer (SQL) to join the Front Office technology team of a global commodities trading firm in London. You will work closely with traders, analysts and business stakeholders to design, build and maintain data‑driven solutions that support fast‑paced trading decisions. The role sits at the heart of a technology‑first culture where engineering impact is directly linked to commercial outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, optimise and maintain SQL‑based solutions that support Front Office trading activities.
• Collaborate with traders and business users to gather requirements and deliver scalable data pipelines, reporting tools and operational utilities.
• Design and enhance data platforms, ensuring high performance, reliability and security.
• Support and improve critical business applications and databases, including performance tuning and automation.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives across the wider technology function.

Required profile

• Strong commercial experience with SQL and relational database technologies.
• Hands‑on experience supporting Front Office users in financial services or capital markets.
• Proven ability to translate business needs into technical solutions in a fast‑moving environment.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
